KEEP THE ROUND ON THE GROUND!

It was a short, but very satisfactory visit with S2. Tuesday evening we arrived earlier than expected, so Linda, H2F, S2 and I went to Taqueria Jalisco for some excellent AUTHENTIC Mexican fare. Even the coke is bottled in Mexico! Ah-h-h, the taste always brings back memories of the coke of my youth!

Yesterday Linda, S2 and I had brunch at Aunt Leni's restaurant in the "Pernt". Dinner was Outback with KenEllie, H2, H2F, Linda and S2. Those who had 'em (motorcycles, that is) rode 'em. Dessert was stopping by to see DLG, Ian, and BB. MD was on a detail, so we missed him, and Molly-moo was already asleep.

Today S2 is on her way to Tupelo, MS, via the Natchez Trace. If our weather in NOLA is any indication she should be having an excellent trip. I hope her weather luck holds for the rest of her journey home.

It's hard to believe that S2 has only been riding motorcycles for a little over a year, and has made this amazing trip! Once it gets in your blood... Pretty amazing gal, if you ask me!

And I would certainly be grossly remiss if I didn't give a shout out to nephew David on his return to Huntington Beach, CA, after biking from Owego, NY, across country. If you haven't already, you can follow his journey at The Polio Ride '09. Give it a look. An awesome achievement!!

BIG D, LITTLE A, DOUBLE L, A, S

Well, I did it! Rode up to Dallas on Sunday, met up with S2 on Monday. We had a nice (WAY to short) visit with Tim and Kristen, then returned with S2 to New Orleans yesterday. The weather was just about perfect... no rain, not excessively hot, and no traffic jams, accidents, delays. Just a perfect ride each way.

Today we are spending quiet time around the house, mostly blogging, emailing, etc., then dinner with family tonight at Outback.

Tomorrow S2 heads out on the rest of her trip through the Natchez Trace, Nashville, and on back to PA. Linda and I will, of course, head back to work. (insert frown-y face here).

It was great to see S2, and to get a chance to ride wtih her!!

Looking forward to the next time!!

KUDOS GALORE!!!

I guess I must face up to the fact that I belong to a most amazing family!

My daughter, who authors a most interesting blog, is also an avid reader. As such, she has started a new blog, Book Addict, at which she reviews books as she finishes. Both blogs are, thanks to DIL1, visually attractive and, coupled with DLG's flair for writing, lots of fun to read. Give them a look!!

My younger sister (actually ALL my sisters are younger), Sara, is going to a women's motorcycle convention in Denver, CO. She is riding her motorcycle from Pennsylvania to Denver, then from Denver to Dallas, to New Orleans, and finally back to PA! What an adventure! I wish I could join her for the whole trip, but at least I'm trying to meet up with her in Dallas to ride back to NOLA.

My sis-in-law in Orlando, who started her program long, LONG, after I did, will be getting her Masters Degree in Nursing this December!! Way to GO, Mags!!

My nephew, David, is in the middle (actually just passed middle) of a bicycle ride across the U.S. to raise money and awareness for the fight to totally eradicate polio! He started in Owego, NY, and is biking all the way to Huntington Beach, CA. You can follow his progress at The Polio Ride '09. He is up to day 22, I think. If you are so inclined, you can also make a donation HERE.

Everywhere I turn my children, my siblings, my nieces and nephews, my in-laws, they are an inspiration to me! I am so proud, and at the same time, humble, to be related to them!

REALITY BYTES

By now you have probably seen the video of the wedding "procession" wherein the entire wedding party dances, whirls and gyrates to the front of the church. I was initially somewhat taken aback when I first saw it. Then I thought, "well, maybe because I am a fairly frequent 'officiant' at weddings I'm a little more easily, well, shocked is probably too strong a word, but my reaction was less than favorable." This by Red Cardigan at And Sometimes Tea puts it into a much better perspective than I ever could. I hope I can remember what she says the first time a bride-to-be confronts me with plans to dance down the aisle!
