Begun in the aftermath of Katrina, this blog was a way to keep family and friends updated as the family struggled to return to a semblance of normalcy. Now, more than four years later, the memories are still strong, the family is, to some extent, scattered. However, life did go on, and this is our story.

TOO FUNNY NOT TO SHARE
This from my daughter's blog:
DLG: The creepy kid in this book I'm reading is named Bridget.
MD: The creepy kid in our house is named Bridget.
Ian: I think my leg is God punishing me for being bad.
DLG: Nah, that was the Old Testament God.
Ian: Yeah, He was a smiter of smitees.

THANKS FOR A GREAT DAY!!!
Thanks to everyone for a great Father's Day!
A special thanks to KenEllie for the coffee mug! It expresses my sentiments to a "T"!
Thanks also to DLG and MD for the great dinner at Fuji Hana!!
And also to H1/DIL1 who, totally ignoring the Herrick's famous 15-minute rule, made sure I received my Father's day card in a most timely fashion!! I'm looking forward to the Thanksgiving card, tomorrow?!?!
All in all it was a fabulous day. Well, with the possible exception of the olives.

THE BELLS ARE RINGING...
Wedding bells, that is... For all my "peeps" who either aren't on Facebook or don't read it frequently, H2/H2F's wedding is set for July 24, 2010, at 5PM, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Del Rio, TX. Some of the festivities will be in Mexico (Del Rio is a border town) so (DIL1 stop reading here!) get those passports ready!!

NO NEWS IS GOOD NEWS... UPDATE FROM NOLA
An update from the NOLA Westbank deacon…
KenEllie are getting ready for their Disney vacation. They leave tomorrow for a week in and around the Magic Kingdom. We’ll miss them while they’re gone. Praying for them a safe and happy trip!
H2 is doing pretty well in his new role as protector of the populace! In his first three weeks he has seen three dead bodies (all non-violent, unless you call a bridge jumper violent), arrested several people during traffic stops, and had to draw his weapon a couple of time (no shots fired!). And, if I do say so myself, he looks absolutely GREAT in uniform!
H1/DIL1 are heading in at the end of the month, and we can hardly wait!! While here we will get the whole family together to celebrate our (Linda’s and mine) 40th wedding anniversary. AND, H1/DIL1 will also be having their marriage blessed in the Church! By yours truly!
Saturday last, we had dinner with DLG, Major Dad and kids. It was great to get together again, and Ditali’s Pizza is always a favorite. The kids are doing great. Ian is dealing with his injury as best he can, with physical therapy twice a week, and working out with MD in between. BB misses school already. Molly is just busy being cute as a button! DLG is eagerly awaiting the start of the new season of True Blood on HBO.
Thanks a HUGE bunch to H2 for taking the valkyrie to the Honda shop for maintenance, and to MD for picking it up for me! Linda and I have ridden to work twice this week!! Hopefully tomorrow, too!
I guess summer’s about over for me… :-( I’ve enrolled in “Vatican II: Continuity and Development” at Notre Dame Seminary’s Summer Theological Institute. It will count toward completing my Master’s in Theology. I’m pretty excited, as this course should help in understanding what VCII really intended in the way of reform, and where and why it all went awry, if indeed it did. Good stuff!!
I’m also easing into the routine of preaching twice a month at my parish, at the request of my pastor. I just wish it would get easier, but after 10 years it hasn’t, so I’m not holding my breath!
And just a gentle reminder to family… passports… Pasaportes… PASSPORTS!!... ¡Hurra, Mexico en julio de 2010.
God's blessings to all!! Dominus Vobiscum!

JUST FOR FUN
This is pretty funny, I think, but I'm a little bit warped anyway. This is hysterical!! If you haven't yet tried Dr. Boli's Celebrated Magazine then you're missing out! Really!!
