Begun in the aftermath of Katrina, this blog was a way to keep family and friends updated as the family struggled to return to a semblance of normalcy. Now, more than four years later, the memories are still strong, the family is, to some extent, scattered. However, life did go on, and this is our story.

AND THE WINNER IS...
The first American Idol winner (I think she was the first) Kelly Clarkson performs Schubert's Ave Maria for Pope Benedict XVI.
I thought I'd line up a few Marian treats for you during this month of Mary's. Enjoy!!

Thank you, Deacon Dean. Miss Clarkson has a beautiful voice and did such a lovely job, performing for the Pope. Apparently it had been one of her dreams to be able to perform "Ave Maria" live, and unless she gets a chance to sing for the man upstairs herself one day, I'm saying that was the closest thing to it. I've been a fan of Kelly's since I saw her on American Idol (and, yes, she was the first winner), so it was a special moment watching her perform for another idol of mine.
