It was a good weekend for several reasons. Let's see, where to begin...
Saturday KenEllie, Linda and I went across the lake to "the Abbey" (St. Joseph's Abbey) to visit the gift shop. We bought an awesome set of windchimes that will hang in our currently non-existent (except in our minds) gazebo.
Then, Saturday evening Linda and I went over to MD/DLG's to celebrate Molly-moo's birthday. It's hard to believe that she's three already!! Where does the time go?
Then Sunday after Mass I had the privilege of baptizing little Chloe Grace... she was SO cute! Until they asked the deacon to hold her for a picture. Oh, no! Not going to the guy who poured water on her head!! Not gonna happen!
Let's see... oh, yeah:
LSU 4 - 0!! Geaux Tigers!
Saints 3 - 0!! Who DAT!!
And I almost forgot, Tulane won their game, too! Roll Wave!
Begun in the aftermath of Katrina, this blog was a way to keep family and friends updated as the family struggled to return to a semblance of normalcy. Now, more than four years later, the memories are still strong, the family is, to some extent, scattered. However, life did go on, and this is our story.

SPIRITUALLY REFRESHED!
What a week! Went on retreat to the Lumen Christi retreat center in Shriever, Louisiana, in the Diocese of Houma/Thibodaux... It was excellent!! It was a couples' retreat for deacons of both the Archdiocese of New Orleans and the Diocese of Houma/Thibodaux, and their wives. Since two dioceses were represented we had two retreat directors, Bishop Sam Jacobs of Houma/Thibodaux and Bishop Shelton Fabre of New Orleans. It was definitely a spiritually fulfilling weekend. Apparently the weekend was so well received that it will be an annual event beginning next year!
Little Molly-Moo is THREE!! Where has the time gone? Happy Birthday, Molly!!!
One of my boys has become a casualty of the recession. His job was "down-sized" away on Friday. Rumors had it going away in December, but the ax fell much sooner. Please pray that he will be able to find employment quickly!
Although we aren't getting rain the likes of what Georgia is experiencing, we're getting enough to make it difficult to ride on a regular basis. What a drag!! I'm in desperate need of wind in my hair and bugs in my teeth!OK... wind in the hair of my beard, anyway!
And oh, how 'bout them Saints?!?!?! Looking pretty good, so far!
Big J, I've been getting your emails and lovin' 'em! Enjoying all your photos on facebook, as well! Keep on enjoying that retirement! It's a dirty job, but someone has to do it!
Take care, everyone and God bless!

NOW CUT THAT OUT!!
ABC Meme
It seems that I’ve been tagged by DLG (Patti) at Book Addict.
Here are the rules:
1. Link to the person who tagged you.
2. Share your ABC s.
3. Tag three people at the end by linking to their blogs.
4. Let the three tagged people know they have been tagged.
5. Do not tag the same person repeatedly but try to tag different people, so there is a big network of bloggers doing this tag.
Available or single? I have to agree with DLG who said, “This question makes no sense...It's like asking if the car I drive has a manual or a standard transmission.”
Best Friend? Without a doubt the love of my life, Linda!
Cake or Pie? Devil’s food cake with vanilla frosting! (Although I do love me some pumpkin pie at Thanksgiving.)
Drink of choice? Harvey’s Bristol Cream on the rocks
Essential item for every day use? My laptop, of course! :-)
Favorite Color? Blue, all shades, but sky and midnight mostly.
Google? Of course, is there anything else? (Rhetorical question, no need to answer)
Hometown? Born in Leaksville (Now called Eden) North Carolina, but grew up in Binghamton, Canton, Binghamton, Norwich, Binghamton, all in New York. Oh yes, a brief time spent in Warren Center, PA. Still, I call Binghamton “home”.
Indulgences? Music, TV/Movies and (unfortunately) food!
January or February? What’s wrong with the other months? I’m kinda partial to December. After all, it is my birthday month.
Life is incomplete without? Linda. And family. And God. And music.
Marriage date? July 5th.
Number of siblings? Five of the awesomest (is that even a word?) sibs in the world!!
Oranges or apples? I guess “six of one, half dozen of the other”. Depends on what I’m in the mood for.
Phobias and fears? Tornadoes. No doubt about it. My biggest fear.
Quote for the day? “I know God will not give me anything I can't handle. I just wish that He didn't trust me so much.” – Mother Teresa
Reason to smile? So many!! My kids! My kids chosen companions! My grandkids! Getting to baptize babies! Getting to witness marriages! And… DLG’s and DIL1’s blogs always bring a smile!
Season? That would have to be the one week of spring and the one week of fall we get here in New Orleans… fair weather, mild temps, and low humidity.
Tag 3 people? DIL1, H1 and Mandi.
Unknown fact about me? I fenced epée on the SUNY Maritime College fencing team.
Vegetable you hate? I have no idea what vegetables YOU hate, but I hate lima beans. Oh, and rutabaga.
Worst habit? I stick my tongue out when I’m concentrating.
X -rays you’ve had? Again, I don’t know what x-rays you’ve had, but I’ve had many, many, many. Mostly dental, some chest.
Zodiac sign? Sagittarius (the Archer)

Never forget the evils of which mankind is capable.
JUST AWESOME!!
If you don't watch "America's Got Talent", you've been missing Barbara Padilla singing. What a magnificent voice!! This clip is a compilation of all three of her performances.

ABOUT "VIA MEDIA"
Fr. Longenecker at Standing On My Head, always interesting, has THIS to say about our Church, as compared to other Christian communities. His background gives his words much authenticity. Enjoy.
